Dane pointed out that it looked like Aye was looking at his hands. Decided to use this and as suggested redrew the head in the first frame to make it clearer that Aye is focusing on his hands. This also provides additional movement for the beginning of the animation where there was no planned movement or dialogue.

Have moved frames to a new document and synced it with the dialogue. Currently adding stick figures for breakdowns and some additional keys to give the movement more "nuance", focusing on anticipation.

Have mostly followed the poses from the video reference with modifications made for character and the situation. Will need to clean up the roughs a bit and redraw the faces after syncing frames to dialogue. Currently there is no timing.

Filmed video reference for the animation. Have skipped thumbnails and have finished two rough keys. Pretty happy with how the movement is framed. Haven't decided how the dialogue will sync with the movement yet. Think there are three major accents? Will probably have about eight keys by the end.

Making a decent start on the second dialogue animation. Currently practicing drawing the character by copying the model sheet while also trying to figure out the character's structure. Aye doesn't have a neck or shoulders that makes him a little harder to construct. Haven't started thumbnails yet.

Had a tough time readjusting back into my regular routine after the break. As a result I am very behind. Currently practicing the character for the animation in flash. Will probably not meet the deadline. Have some ideas for the cut and have already done a (very) rough background.

Storyboards are humming along well. Should probably cut out S2P3 breaks continuity of Cee's movement. Might cut out S3P3 and have shot 4 begin with an additional empty shot without the hand. At the moment the hand is coming down too quickly. Could alternatively delay the right hand in shot 3. Looks like I won't be able to render all the panels at a higher standard than the thumbnails that I am doing now. Am confident that I'll finish at least six by the due date on Wednesday afternoon. Total number of panels is now fifteen.

Hit a wall developing the storyboard on paper have decided to start the digital stage. Am currently transferring thumbnails to Photoshop keeping continuity in mind. Note to self draw some backgrounds.

Got two panels done for SB3 today. Spent most of the day on the art gallery trip sketched one of the busts of Minerva. Spent about twenty minutes doing a relaxing sketch of that griffin thing from last guardian.

Have handed in AP3. And have also managed to cobble together enough thumbnails and doodles done half deliriously under the influence of a cold to begin the next stage of SB3 which is due in a week. All in all my storyboard totals twelve panels and five shots. The thumbnail process above may be messy to the point of approaching non-euclidean geometry but it works at least for me.

Making slow progress on the Storyboard assessment. Also missed two days of course this week. Have already got the scenario planned out basically Cee and Zed have a fight after having different interpretations on the contents of their parent's abandoned house.

Figured out the hands. Just inbetweening the first section now. Currently have finished 3/15 frames. Will hopefully be finished by Thursday.

Working on AP3. Up to the rough clean up stage as I try to redraw the frames so that they're on model. Having difficulty with the hands did some studies on paper.

So my shading process basically breaks down into reduction and addition. I start with a darkened canvas and then make the lights lighter and the shadows darker. But today I only managed to get the canvas a bit darkened and struggled with adding lights. Suspect this is because it's the first time I've tried to shade digitally and need to learn some new technique ie you can't just wing it like you would with a pencil. Will get more done when I get home.

I got more work done today than in the past three days. Good but also not good. Have laid down most of the flat colours and am now adding details to the bushes before adding lighting and shadows.

Missed the first two days of this term. So got a late start on this week's assignments. Have started to develop a more definite direction for the hybrid character design assignment that is I've decided to design a mermaid based on jellyfish and a dolphin or shark I haven't decided yet. Finished a basic text outline of the storyboard two assignment. Still have to design the hitchhiker and start thumbnails.

Finished rough for the first skip out of two. Movement ended up looking very un-natural due to the arms not moving in sync with the legs. Took it up for feedback have a pretty good idea of what I have to do to make it better.

Took video reference today for my walk cycle animation. Spent a bit too much time picking out keyframes from the reference and I then I realized that I actually can't use half of it without changing it quite a bit. The contact and down positions in the first skip are from a stationary position which won't loop well and the jump from the second skip is stilted due to the wall. I'll have to reference both skips at the same time as the draw the keyframes and combine the movement.

Haven't posted many progress updates on the assignments I'm behind on. The sketch for the layout is mostly done but needs some polishing and I also have to do shading for it. Haven't done any shading in a while and I've never done much shading from imagination. The composition's sketch needs to be refined and then cleaned up with nice lineart after that I'll do flat colours and it be finished enough to hand it in. Having trouble with the perspective and proportions of the helmet.

Working on Modelsheet. Have realized there is a bit of an inconsistency in the character's hair and I need to adjust the front view before moving on. Only came into the digital class today bleah.

Made some progress on character design and have almost finalized Puck's outfit. Will hopefully have finished turnaround tomorrow. Was very tired after life drawing and made little progress on my animation.

Finished my thumbnails today. Put them into Flash and worked out some rough timing and staging. Have used several holds which ideally I'll be able to add some special effects and breathing loops to make them less stiff. Missed two days of class (Last Friday and this Monday) due to illness and am worried that I won't finish the assignments on time.

Finished practicing "Videogame Enn" by finishing my copy of the modelsheet. Have started thumbnailing and have finished three thumbnails so far. Have figured out the basic proportions for my character "Puck" and have begun designing his costume. The five pronged leaf poncho turned out to be too complex to animate will likely change it into something more squarish.

Have started to finalize the facial design of the character. Did a quick turnaround of the head to show the tutors. I need to make the leaf/hair more three dimensional especially the segment of the leaf that goes up, Spent most of the afternoon class practicing drawing Videogame Enn and took some video reference for my animation. Will be basing my thumbnails on screenshots from the video.
